MAJOR DUTIES:
Inputs spatial and non-spatial digital data. Plots data for various kinds of displays, and makes plots to check and verify results of map file construction. Visits field sites to gather information using field mapping techniques. Operates, updates, and assists in maintaining CAD/GIS software, hardware, and associated peripheral devises. Maintains GIS files and related databases. Prepares and maintains digital and hardcopy versions of data histories. Establishes and verifies data site locations through on-site inspections. Canoes on the river and hikes to reach field locations.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level is required; OR successful completion of a four year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor’s degree with at least 18 semester hours of related course work.
Specialized experience is defined as experience in cartography, or in a related field such as photogrammetry or geodesy, where the work requires similar knowledge and skills.
