Summary
The Upper Mississippi River Basin Association is seeking a detail-oriented individual for an interagency contingency planning and mapping effort related to oil spill response. Ongoing since 1992, the Inland Sensitivity Atlas Project covers the six states of US EPA Region 5 (IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI) and adjacent portions of other states. Having produced initial sensitivity maps for the entire area, the project’s focus has now shifted to updating and enhancing this library of maps and applying the maps to related planning efforts. The project is a team effort led by the US EPA in collaboration with the Upper Mississippi River Basin Association and the Great Lakes Commission.
Position Description

The technician will participate in production of atlases for distribution in paper and digital formats. The technician will also compile, refine, and map data on selected environmental, economic, and cultural resources, as well as oil storage and transportation systems within targeted mapping areas, using a variety of techniques. Other duties may include coordination assistance and participation in special events, such as planning meetings, data reviews, and workshops.
