Fishing Hot Spots, Inc., the nations leading provider of “where-to” fishing information presented in map form, is looking for an entry-level GIS Specialist. The qualified candidate will possess the appropriate educational or work experience to support the companies GIS program and goals. Experience with the ESRI GIS suite of tools, especially ArcMap, is essential. This position will assist senior GIS staff with data sourcing, data importation, digitizing, and preparing data for cartography and Geodatabase applications. Job Summary
Support of GIS organization, GIS database, software, hardware, infrastructure, procedures and data archive. Implementation and adherence to best-known production and revision control practices. Accurately and efficiently import and digitize data to conform with company data standards. Source data from public and private sources.
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of GIS, with an emphasis on ESRI tools. Must be very familiar and comfortable working with varying projections and able to digitize efficiently. Fundamental knowledge of computer programming, with skills in Visual Basic a strong plus. Understanding of computer software, networking and hardware. Areas of expertise should included Arc Edit, Arc Grid, Arc Macro Language, Arc Map, 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst. Familiarity and/or expertise in import, manipulation and conversion of varying data formats. Familiarity with storage and manipulation of data coverage, shape file and Personal Geodatabase data models.
BA/BS in GIS or Geography or equivalent real-world experience.
1+ years of production experience using tools such as ESRI, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw.
Ability to work well with others, ability to work in a team environment using excellent corporate communication skills. Ability to manage conflicting priorities and communicate vertically and horizontally in both a written and oral manner.
