This position is with the U.S. Geological Survey, Office of the Associate Chief for Water Information, Cartographic Applications and Processing Program (CAPP), located in Madison, WI. The selectee will be responsible for performing the following major duties:
- Provide support to project managers with GIS processing and analysis.
- Utilize GIS and other software to compile and integrate data for GIS-based projects.
- Assist project managers with map production for conferences, meetings and other presentations.
- Assist in the development of GIS techniques for analyzing wetlands and other natural resources.
- Participate as a GIS support staff member implementing GIS techniques for spatial analysis and map interpretation.
- Assist local GIS users in resolving GIS software usability issues, including other organizational units co-located at the facility.
- Respond to routine requests for information such as status of reports and similar readily available information.
- Assist local GIS users with finding, organizing and utilizing GIS data.
