Job Duties: These positions perform technical engineering duties such as: researches public records and reviews existing records to determine property limits, and ownership’s and encumbrances; reviews legal descriptions and right-of-way plats; writes descriptions in prescribed legal form, describes lands to be acquired for highway projects; researches surveys, plans, right-of-way plats and road records to establish existing centerline and highway widths; analyzes property descriptions and computes the position of property lines in relation to the centerline of construction; determines right-of-way lines and control of access; makes recommendations to designers on right-of-way related problems; and, has daily contact with engineering and real estate personnel.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Principles and practices of land surveying; real estate terms, procedures and law; mathematics, primarily geometry/trig and use of computer programs to solve geometric problems; computer programs for survey and CADDS applications and drafting programs to prepare plat drawings; oral and communication skills; and, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
