Come join our team assisting counties with implementation of the conservation reserve enhancement program. Provide analysis and review of the local exclusion agricultural zoning ordinances and agricultural preservation plans for the farmland preservation program.

Job Duties: Perform environmental analysis and review related to department programs administered under chapters 91, 92, and 93 Stats. This position conducts review and provides assistance regarding local implementation and regulation of land use and environmental projects related to agricultural use. This position works as part of a team to assist counties to implement the conservation reserve enhancement program, and analysis and review of local exclusive agricultural zoning ordinances and agricultural preservation plans for the farmland preservation program. Responsibilities include development and review of documents for perpetual conservation easements and agreements and review of exclusive agricultural zoning ordinances and agricultural preservation plans for certification by the Wisconsin Land and Water Resource Board. Develop and maintain computer databases related to environmental and land use activities along with the production of maps using cartographic products.

Special Notes: In-state travel is required. Selected applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of statutes and rules pertaining to soil and water conservation, local land use planning and regulation, and government agencies that administer agriculture-related programs. Knowledge of soil and water conservation principles and practices, including farm conservation planning. Knowledge of the natural resources/conservation agencies and programs. Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in making complex land use decisions related to local planning and zoning, and other land use programs, such as the conservation reserve enhancement program. Knowledge and skill in the use of personal computers, Windows operating systems, and software applications including Access Database and other Microsoft Office Suite applications, AutoCad, Arc/View and Arc/Info GIS software. Considerable knowledge of data used to develop land use plans, regulations, and programs. Excellent communication: both written and oral. Effective liaison and networking skills to work with a variety of government and outside agency representatives.
