The Wisconsin Historical Society’s Division of Historic Preservation – Public History seeks a Web Developer who will be primarily responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining dynamic Internet and Intranet sites/applications. The developer will create databases and write code to generate dynamic Web pages. The developer will support custom Oracle databases and ColdFusion and ASP applications. The developer will resolve programming errors and other application problems to ensure smooth operation of applications for staff, paid subscribers, and public. This is a full-time, limited term position in Madison, Wisconsin. Specific duties include:

  • Design, implement, and maintain new web applications for the Division of Historic Preservation – Public History.
  • Maintain and support the subscription access Wisconsin Historic Preservation Database (WHPD), public Architecture and History Inventory and National Register databases, Tax Credit database, and other relevant applications.
  • Help design, plan, and implement periodic enhancements to existing web applications to improve customer service.
  • Help design and develop applications to generate new income and streamline existing business practices.
  • Integrate existing, free-standing applications into WHPD suite.
  • Recommend software and hardware upgrades.

Successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of the following:

  • HTML, ASP, ASP.NET,ColdFusion, VBScript, Javascript, SQL
  • Oracle 10g and ArcGIS 9.2
  • Ability to design, maintain, and implement Web applications
