DescriptionUnder the general supervision of the DMA IS supervisor, this position will assist the DMA GIS coordinator in overall GIS/IS data development and automation efforts at DMA. This individual will assist in the development of GIS related data models, develop Extract Transform and Load (ETL) procedures, and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents to support the GIS needs of homeland security.

This position will perform professional IS work, related to the analysis and development of logical data relationships and/or the development and management of databases which support data collection, retention, retrieval and access. Data Services provided by this position cover a variety of data, including GIS and image data sets. This position will spend the majority of their time performing the following job duties to support homeland security capabilities.

Duties:
1. Create desktop spatial and non-spatial data models to support production applications requirements.

2. Coordinate with various government organizations to acquire data sets related to homeland security.

3. Develop SOP to extract, transform, and load various data sets into the DMA GIS geodatabase environment.

4. Create and update metadata documents for the DMA geodatabase.

5. Develop standard symbol sets using ArcGIS desktop.
6. Participate with internal and professional committees and training opportunities as directed.

Skills:
Required Knowledge:
1. ESRI ArcSDE geodatabase structure.
2. Basic understanding of Windows operation system.
3. File Transfer Protocol.
4. Basic programming concepts.
Desired Software:
1. ArcGIS desktop and extensions (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc.).
2. MS Office.

Duration:Six months full time but not more than 12 months maximum.
