GIS Project Manager

Proxix Solutions, Inc. is a location intelligence company that specializes in developing advanced geospatial software and database solutions. Our solutions serve a range of different enterprises and applications, including insurance, tax, marketing and retail.

Position:
Proxix is looking for a GIS Project Manager to work in its Madison, WI office. The GIS Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team of GIS Analysts who are collecting and assimilating data from various sources for use in our GIS database products.

Specific responsibilities include:
-Managing a team of GIS Analysts in their data collection efforts.
-Developing automated reports for tracking data collection efforts.
-Communicating regularly with internal staff and clients regarding procedures in data collection and quality control processes.
-Reviewing all legal language relative to the use of the data.
-Communicating with State and County officials regarding availability of digitized data, data fees and data use terms.
-Oversee updating processes of metadata documentation and archiving of collected and reconstructed data.

Skills & Qualifications:
Candidates for the GIS Project Manager position must have:
-A four-year degree in geography or a related field with specialization or focus in GIS.
-Prior experience managing a large geo-spatial database development project and experience working with parcel data and other local government data sets.
-A clear understanding of ArcGIS 9.0 (or higher) and the Microsoft Office suite of products are required.
-Excellent written and oral communications skills, as they will be required to negotiate with county government officials regarding data acquisition fees and terms relative to the use of the data.

Other highly desirable skills include familiarity with Microsoft Access, FoxPro and Dbase programming.
