The Lincoln County Land Information and Conservation Department is seeking one limited term employee for the spring/summer of 2007. The office includes many government functions that include GIS, Addressing, Conservation, Tax Listing and Surveying. The limited term employee will assist in creating geographic information systems (GIS) layers for Lincoln County as well as updating existing data layers. The limited term employee will work under the direction of the GIS Project Coordinator. Compensation is $10.50 an hour. Position will not exceed 599 hours of work and has no benefits.
This position will be responsible for assisting the staff with a variety of GIS projects. Typical tasks may include:
-Collecting data and preparing computerized maps, charts, graphs, and diagrams;
-Entering/digitizing map-related information into computer(s);
-Developing and preparing computer documentation for custom menus and macros to implement new applications;
-Generating information from compiled information for GIS application;
-Aerial photography interpretation;
-Field surveys;
-Operating and adjusting GIS related general office equipment;
-Preparing background information: and
-Using ArcGIS 9.2 software
-Will be working in an office with many government functions and will get to work with each function when needed.
Update following GIS layers:
Culvert Inventory, Public Access Points, Hydro Layer; Help with address clean-up, Trail data ATV, Snowmobile, Hiking, parcels, create sign Inventory and update Metadata.
Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled/recent graduate of a bachelor or associate degree program or higher in geography, land records, geology, natural resources or related field. GIS experience is preferred.
Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and dependable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed at the rates established by Lincoln County.
Candidates must be able to use and interpret a variety of maps. Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines and must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Candidates must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions with occasional exposure to pollen, dust, odors, etc.
