Job Description: Create Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) to support Wisconsin/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Floodplain Map Modernization Initiative. Utilize a suite of federal mapping tools to cartographically symbolize and label Digital Floodplain Maps based on established standards and guidance. Manipulate digital feature classes to meet cartographic standards where needed. Assist analysts and other professional staff with processing digital terrain data, creating and editing floodplain delineations, and geodatabases. Coordinate with technical production staff and program users to define and develop GIS data and cartographic project deliverables, track status, assure and document quality.
Knowledge Required: Candidates must be familiar with ArcMap 9.1 software and have a basic understanding of geodatabase concepts. They must also work well in a team environment, and be able to stay on task while working independently.
