Responsibilities:
-Acquire and analyze data on local and regional economic development, urban poverty, urban labor markets, brownfields, and jobs-transportation linkages.
-Conduct routine to complex GIS operations, including geodatabase development, map preparation, and data analysis.
-Supervise activities of student interns.
-Communicate, coordinate, and exchange data with staff of government and nonprofit agencies in Southeastern Wisconsin.
-Serve as a research liaison and support to UWM scholars and community partners working on local and regional economic development.
-Pursue sources of extramural support for Center research.

Qualifications: M.S. in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Urban Planning, Economics, Urban Studies, or related field, plus a minimum of two years experience with GIS/data analysis. Exceptional candidates without advanced degrees may also be considered. The position requires strong working knowledge of ArcView, ArcGIS, or similar GIS software; familiarity with database and spreadsheet software; experience with database development, maintenance, and management; skills in extraction and analysis of data from various data sources; ability to work independently; and strong written and verbal communication skills.
