Job Description: Under general supervision: This position serves as a GIS Analyst in the Bureau of Forestry Services to support the work of the Forestry Division’s GIS Development Specialist. Leads complex GIS project development, scoping, implementation, and monitoring to meet the business needs of the Division of Forestry as identified in the division’s IT project priorities. Analyzes forestry staff needs Creates detailed documentation of GIS processes and metadata Drafts project timelines Tracks project development and status Communicates progress, problems and/or shortfalls to GIS Development Specialist Assists forestry staff in GIS related questions including: Field questions about software and DNR data, particularly forestry vector and raster datasets. Update, maintain, and organize statewide datasets and metadata that are included in the Forestry GIS Library to be consistent with DNR’s GIS standards. Design detailed map products for use by forestry field staff. Perform additional analysis of datasets as necessitated by project goals. Evaluates the division’s GIS/IT policies and systems documentation; develops policies and edits technical manuals and procedures. Performs other work as assigned.
