Job Duties:
Under the direction and review of the GIS Services Section Chief, this position is responsible for project based geo-spatial development and implementation activities utilizing Geographic Information Systems software components to analyze and display spatial and tabular database information. Primary responsibilities will be performing geo-spatial data management, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) technology support, and cartographic production project tasks. These activities include creating and verifying integrated data topologies for database use within geospatial systems; providing spatial data processing and management; performing geographic database queries, assisting in GPS instruction to users, and conducting cartographic design and construction tasks. Position responsibilities also include carrying out special assignments in support of section, bureau, agency and enterprise activities as directed by section, bureau, division or agency management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Fundamental methodologies utilized to perform the collection, processing and management of geo-spatial data, metadata and other supporting information; fundamental methodologies utilized to perform technical work using desktop GIS software (ArcGIS Workstation, ArcView, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) tools, image processing tools), and other web-based interactive editing application packages; fundamental methodologies of mapping sciences, cartographic design and production; skill to independently support essential components of GIS technical applications relying on GIS infrastructure; skill to plan, develop, and implement geo-spatial project work; customer service principles and practices; skilled at communications, teamwork, and meeting assigned objectives on schedule; problem solving principles.
