Duties and Responsibilities:
- Extensive field work including:
- raising walleye from spawn collection to stocking;
- wild rice surveys, harvest, and planting;
- fish, wildlife, and waterfowl population surveys;
- habitat restoration and enhancement;
- tree planting;
- chain saw use;
- aquatic pesticide application;
- equipment maintenance.
- Interact with the public, provide tribal fish management information.
- GIS Specialist:
- collect field data on GPS unit;
- create and maintain GIS databases;
- create and maintain spatial data;
- create maps;
- Other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resources, or related field.
- Current driver’s license with no violations.
- Ability to maintain accurate and thorough data records.
- Willingness to travel for extended periods.
- Willingness to work nights, early mornings, and weekends.
- Good physical condition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with word-processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
- Training in GIS data collection and software.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in walleye culture.
- Ability to work with a variety of natural resources.
- Experience in GPS/GIS.
- Ability to identify aquatic plants.
